Coop membership decision is significantly associated with household characteristics. Membership in coop positively affected household income and assets. Members economically perform significantly better than if they had not been members. Group discussions results also verify direct and spill-over effects of membership. To enhance participation and member benefits, changes in the cooperatives' operation mechanisms are suggested.
