Introduction of PCL in PEO and PVdF along with KI, I2 and 2, 6-bis (2-thio pyridyl) pyridine in the polymer blend electrolyte is novel method.

The synthesis of compound 2, 6-bis (2-thio pyridyl) pyridine and the preparation of polymer blend electrolyte is cost-effective method.

The enhanced conductivity of BTPP doped PEO–PVdF–PCL based polymer electrolyte of 9.5 × 10−4 S cm−1.

The fabricated solar cell exhibited efficiency as high as 9.3% for BTPP doped PEO based polymer blend electrolyte.

This is comparatively higher than those of the present day DSSCs fabricated with poly (ethylene oxide) polymer electrolyte.
