Electro-oxidized nickel foam as a support has been used to prepare NiSx phases. Ni(OH)2 layer on electro-oxidized NF is responsible for the growth of β-NiS. NiSx/NF(Ox) composed of β-NiS and Ni3S2 has enhanced electrocatalytic activity. The growth mechanisms of mixed NiSx phases of NiSx/NF(Ox) have been discussed.
