On the chaotic dynamics in two coupled partial differential equations for evolution of surface plasmon polaritons

Coupled (linear and nonlinear) Schrodinger equations are studied.

An Andronov–Hopf bifurcation of a stable limit cycle is found.

A period-doubling bifurcation of a stable limit torus is found.

The considered system has a scenario of transition to chaos in accordance with the universal bifurcation Feigenbaum–Sharkovskii–Magnitskii (FSM) theory.
