Growth in wind-generated power installations in the United States has generated economic benefits in regions suitable for development. This research evaluates the likelihood that environmental factors have influenced site choice for wind power facility development in the Great Plains region. A zero-inflated negative binomial regression is utilized to account for excess zeros in the data. The results suggest that wind farm developers have taken some avian species into consideration in their site choices.
