Impacts of Hurricane Sandy on PAH body burdens in menhaden were studied.
Menhaden (Brevoortia tyrannus) were collected near Delaware Bay, NJ before and after the storm.
PAHs were measured in raw fish oil using excitation–emission matrix (EEM) spectroscopy.
EEM spectroscopy showed high concentrations of high molecular weight PAH-like compounds in raw fish oils.
Concentrations were similar for the same school of fish but not associated with changes in exposure due to the storm.
