The off-transient V˙O2 response to intense exercise has been characterized over the years by a biexponential model. In this study, a triexponential decay was superior in describing the V˙O2 off-kinetics after a 60-s cycling exercise. These findings are in accordance with a biphasic pattern of phosphocreatine resynthesis when muscle pH is affected.
