Carbon cycle perturbation expressed in terrestrial Permian-Triassic boundary sections in South China

We find − 2.6‰ carbon isotope shift across the Permian–Triassic boundary on land. The shift shows persistent geographic patterns despite the absolute value differs. We use an isotopic mixing model to interpret these records. We find the carbon isotope shift is dominated by the atmospheric δ13C signal. Different absolute δ13C is due to local amplifications and damping of the signal.
