Analyses across species for selection pressure were focused on the conserved transmembrane region of thermal TRP channels. All positive selection sites at extracellular sides of transmembrane linkers, suggesting a direct accessibility from outside. Only heat receptors were under significant selection, matching a high heterogeneity of heat distributions in environments.
