p-AgI dispersedly anchored on {001} facets of layered n-Bi2O2CO3 was fabricated. p-AgI/n-Bi2O2CO3 was highly effective and stable for 2-CP degradation under visible light. The strong interfacial interaction enhanced effective electron transfer from AgI to Bi2O2CO3. O2− generated on Bi2O2CO3 and holes on AgI were the main active species.
