Investigate dynamics of ecological environment combined with land cover and NDVI. NDVI values in Mu Us showed an evident increase of 0.0076 year−1 during 2000–2014. Ecological restoration projects laid vital foundation for ecological reconstruction. Precipitation has been major climatic factors in NDVI growth (R = 0.687, P ≤ 0.01). Ecological performance index has been built for ecological restoration classification.
