Failure analysis & testing of Inconel 718 nuts from high-performance aircraft Failures occurred after installation, prior to any aircraft loading being applied. Fractured nuts passed all qualification tests including tensile tests & metallography. Developed novel method for determining at-risk nuts through torque testing.
