Sarvak and Surmeh formations are effective source rocks in the east of Persian Gulf. Two principal oil families exist in the east of Persian Gulf. Family I oils were generated from Middle Sarvak and migrated to Upper Sarvak/Ilam. Family II oils were generated from Diyab and migrated northward to Iranian Fields.
