Symmetrical metamaterial nano particle for improving the Fano mode for biological application at mid infrared

Controlling the Fano resonance in nano-particle have been noticed recently for various applications such as bio-sensing. Concentration is the energy in the gaps are useful method for improving the energy enhancement at mid- infrared application. In addition, the shape of the nano particle is important for making a layer of nano particle with polarization independent. Therefore, in this work, we have designed the novel shape of the nanoparticle with symmetrical formation for bio application with polarization independence based on metamaterial shape and trapping the incident wave for improving the energy. We show that a special shape of the loop particle is made two Lorentzian resonances. In loop structure, the sharp edge is potential to make dark mode and then by adding a star element with a plasmonic mode at the same frequency, the plasmonic mode is omitted by interaction with dark mode and improved the Fano resonance at this frequency. The energy enhancement is increased drastically from 30,000 (V/m) 2 to 44,500 (V/m) 2 and so more than 50% enhancement is obtained. We have compared the electric field enhancement for various incident polarization angles.
