A new method was applied to tag a widely exploited sea cucumber in Southeast Asia. The new method has a higher tag retention rate (84%) than T-bar method (65%) in one month. The stress effect of tag to big individuals indicated by hormone level and feeding activity could disappear after 2 days. It is feasible to select sea cucumbers above 60 g wet weight for tagging.
