Oxhydryl groups were found on β-TCP after surface modified by stearic acid.

The amount of stearic acid on β-TCP was calculated to be 2.7% after modification.

Contact angle of PLLA was reduced in around 7° by the addition of 10% β-TCP.

Strength of the β-TCP/PLLA composites was increased obviously by the modification.

The interface debonding between β-TCP particles with PLLA was decreased by the modification.
