We assess genetic diversity in eight lines of banana shrimp selected for length over 14 generations.

Loss of genetic diversity was consistent over lines, generations, and ways to measure variation.

With multiple lines net genetic variation of the wild founders can largely be maintained over lines.

By crossing among lines, genetic variability can be restored.
