How the performance of a biological pre-oxidation step can affect a downstream photo-Fenton process on the remediation of mature landfill leachates: Assessment of kinetic parameters and characterization of the bacterial communities
Aerobic/anoxic biological process for mature landfill leachate treatment. Nitrification/denitrification influence on a downstream photo-Fenton reaction. Maximum nitrification-denitrification rates of 37–27 mg N/(h⋅g VSS) were obtained. 454-Pyrosequencing data agreed with the physicochemical results in each reactor. Nitrites’ attendance in the photo-Fenton reaction increased 2.4×H2O2 consumption.
