Methods for typing of C. fetus were analyzed. MLST and ribosomal sequences were highly conserved among bovine and human isolates. CRISPR-cas system structure and CRISPR1 sequence showed remarkable diversity. None of the sequences support genetic differentiation of Cff and Cfv in bovines. CRISPR1 typing is a useful tool for characterizing C. fetus isolates.
