A simple SI-LME procedure with GC-FID analysis is developed for analysis of short-chain fatty acids. SI-LME has advantages of precision, economical, rapid and simple extraction. SI-LME was an effective and convenient method for clean-up of effluent samples prior to analysis with GC-FID. SI-LME with GC-FID analysis is applied to monitor short-chain fatty acids as a quantitative indicator for biogas quality control.
