Bionanocomposite foams prepared by assembly of alginate and potato starch with sepiolite. Effect of sepiolite content on porosity determined by Hg porosimetry and X-ray microtomography. Highest compression modulus in foams containing 10% starch, 40% sepiolite and 50% alginate. Bionanocomposite foams with sepiolite content. 25% behave as auto-extinguishable materials. Post-synthesis crosslinking of the foams with calcium ions increased the compression modulus.
