Elutriation of fines from binary particle mixtures in bubbling fluidized bed cold model

The elutriation of fines of two particle system of different densities were investigated. The coarse particles were Al2O3 (613 and 309 μm), ilmenite (155 μm) and steel shot (200 μm). The fine particles were glass beads with an average particle size of 93 μm. The coarse particle sizes and their densities had a minor effect upon elutriation of fine particles. An improved correlation was obtained with Ug/Ut, initial loading of fines, and densities ratio.
