Experimental analyses on formation of fire whirls using forest fuels are presented. Analysis of flow/thermal properties of fire whirls in several conditions are analysed. Relationship between the flame height and the size of the fuelbed is proposed. Comparison of fire whirls models with experimental data in laboratory and field scale. Our tests show that there is a transition from fire whirl to pool fire regime.
