The fluidized bed drying of powdered materials was experimentally investigated. Powders actually used in pharmaceutical and adsorption pellets manufacturing were used as bed material. Characterization of agglomerates population as a function of operating conditions was assessed. Effects of inlet air temperature and velocity on process thermal efficiency were evaluated. Energy savings and optimum processing conditions were proposed.
