文摘

We examined the cerebral regulation of facial expressions of pain using repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation was applied over the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC).

Interrupting activity of the mPFC led to greater facial expressiveness to pain.

The mPFC is a key structure for regulating facial pain communication.
