Behaviour was recorded in free-ranging lizards of different age classes.

Redder (less orange) lizards took more risks by staying further from refuge.

This is consistent with red coloration being an antipredator mechanism.

Rate of tail and limb display was not significantly related to coloration.

This is not consistent with red coloration having a pursuit deterrent function.
