The effects of the frost morphology on the evaporator performance were investigated. The analysis considered the fan air flow reduction related to the frost formation. A visual inspection of the frost formation process was carried out. A mathematical model was used to evaluate the evaporator thermo-hydraulic performance. The number of defrost operations can be reduced with a proper heat exchanger design.
