The proposed formulation is analogous to the Simo, Taylor and Pister formulation for incompressibility. The formulation is verified using a novel family of mixed higher order finite elements. The deformation gradient is decomposed into a fibre stretch and a stretchless part. The volumetric-isochoric split is intentionally avoided. An adaptive mesh refinement procedure is implemented and illustrated.
