Comparison of properties between asphaltene fractions obtained by 2 different fractionation procedures. Some of the asphaltene sub-fractions exhibit different properties than the unfractionated asphaltenes. Polar asphaltene fractions exhibited low flocculation onset and high bulk adsorption tendencies. The first precipitating asphaltene sub-fraction exhibits higher aggregation heat (ΔHasp) than the other sub-fractions.
