Rigid fillers improve thermomechanical stability of PMMA, maintain processability. Weak filler adhesion improves PMMA toughness, strong interface degrades toughness. Debonding facilitates plastic void growth, shear banding in bulk and at crack tip. Interparticle spacing ≤ equilibrium crack-tip craze width decreases toughness. Fracture toughness quantitatively modeled to account for crack-tip craze shortening.
