A methodology was developed to assess safety barrier performance in the protection from fire escalation. A specific set of key performance indicators to assess the performance of safety barriers was defined. The methodology allowed obtaining detailed frequencies for mitigated and unmitigated domino scenarios. The results highlight the reduction in the risk of domino scenarios triggered by fire achieved through safety barriers. Maintenance of barriers and the emergency response were identified as key factors to enhance risk reduction.
