5 neutral and 8 ionic PFASs were detected in the atmosphere of Tianjin at 0.26–128 pg/m3.

WWTPs can be a direct source of both neutral and ionic PFASs in the atmosphere.

Majority of FTOHs was released to the atmosphere before grid separation at WWTPs.

The release of ionic PFASs and FOSAs increased over aeration tank at WWTPs.

PFOA and PFNA showed high LRAT potential due to their low association to particles.
