We found that knock-down of PLCγ1 induced foreign body giant cell formation. PLCγ1 knock-down upregulates the expression of fusogenic genes. RUNX1 suppresses foreign body giant cell formation. PLCγ1 regulates the RUNX1/PU.1/DC-STAMP axis in macrophages. The finding suggests that PLCγ1 plays a role in the foreign body response.
