The structural properties and the Ga ion release capabilities of zinc borate glasses were investigated.
DSC analyses showed a steady decline in Tg and Tc of the glasses by the addition of Ga.
NMR analysis revealed the addition of Ga reduces the BO4/BO3 ratio which indicates an increase in the non-bridging oxygens.
Introduction of Ga leads to network disruption of the glass, and considerably increases its ability to release Ga ion.
