Aim

To study the water-soluble constituents of the skin of Bufo bufo gargarizans Cantor.

Methods

Repeated silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and recrystallization were used to isolate and purify the constituents. Their physico-chemical properties and the spectral analysis were used to identify the structures.

Results

Seven compounds were isolated and identified, their structures are bufogargarizanine D (1), dehydrobufothionine (2), cyclo (Pro-Gly) dipeptide (3), cyclo (Ala-Ala) dipeptide (4), uracil (5), thymine (6) and gland glucoside (7).

Conclusion

Compound 1 is a new compound.
