New elements to the understanding of the i- to ω-Al-Cu-Fe phase transformation are provided. The formation process of the ω-phase involves Al enrichment of i-Al-Cu-Fe particles. The ω-phase is also formed through the filling of porosities via a liquid mediated reaction.
