We obtained un-doped and RE doped glass-ceramics with cubic BaGdF5 nanocrystals. XRD, TEM and EDAX confirm the precipitation and distribution of BaGdF5 nanocrystals. Intense visible emissions by energy transfer from Gd3+ to RE3+ ions were obtained. This material can be considered as potential phosphor for colour converted UV LEDs.
