The apatite-dolomite ores of the Seligdar deposit were formed from a fluid-rich carbonatite melt of dolomitic composition. The age of the dolomite carbonatites is 1880 ± 13 Ma. The rocks were exposed to the intense processes of hydrothermal-metasomatic alteration and metamorphism.
