Embracing an “African Ethos” to facilitate African immigrants participation in medical genetics and genomics research

Hailed as a new frontier in medicine, genetics, and genomics advances also raises a myriad of important ethical challenges. The results of this study highlight the importance of researchers and genetic counselors to understand cultural perceptions of African immigrants about their participation in genetics and genomics research. Participants in the study suggested embracing an “African Ethos” as a way for researchers to engage and facilitate their participation in genetics and genomics studies.
