The Hongshi granitoids are shoshonitic, derived from melting of juvenile lower crust mixed with mantle components.
The magmatism might have occurred at ca. 337–334 Ma, indicating that the Hongshi gold deposit is younger than 334 Ma.
The predominant sources of the ore fluids and metals at Hongshi are host rocks with some discernable magmatic sources.
The Hongshi deposit is an orogenic-type system, and the granitoids played a key role in controlling the gold mineralization.
