Essential oil variation in Iranian Ajowan (Trachyspermum ammi (L.) Sprague) populations collected from different geographical regions in relation to climatic factors
Essential oil yield and composition of 24 Iranian ajowan populations was investigated. The chemoptypes were obtained as high thymol, and (high γ-terpinene and P-cymene) groups. High thymol content can be obtained in poor and undeveloped soil orders. None phenolic chemotype needs higher humidity and soil depth.
