A pixel and phenology-based algorithm for woody plant encroachment was developed. Dynamic changes of eastern redcedar encroachment were mapped during 1984–2010. Google Earth Engine was used to process Landsat (4233 images) and PALSAR images. The recognition capability of Landsat and PALSAR images was assessed quantitatively.
