Pressure requirements are high for sand media filters used in microirrigation. A new underdrain for reducing pressure drops in these filters was designed and built. The new underdrain has smaller pressure loss than available commercial underdrains. The new underdrain improves hydraulic performance of sand media filters. The developed underdrain should improve filter water and energy efficiency.
