Uranium isotope evidence for temporary ocean oxygenation in the aftermath of the Sturtian Snowball Earth

We use uranium isotopes to infer changes in global redox in the Cryogenian ocean. Our data support a temporary oxygenation event following the Sturtian glaciation. A return to extensive anoxia is coincident with a large negative δ13Cδ13C excursion. These shifts in seafloor redox conditions may have hampered metazoan evolution.
