An episode of gold dissolution/re-precipitation can be 7.64 ± 4.1 years. Grains represent 17.9–58.5 years of gold cycling in subtropical environments. Colloidal gold remains embedded in clay minerals. The biogeochemical cycling of gold is continuous.
