Evaluation of wall friction models for riser flow

Johnson & Jackson (J&J) and Schneiderbauer (SB) wall friction models are compared.

J&J with partial slip settings fails to predict clustering in rapid, dilute flows.

Near free-slip settings improve results, but overestimate cluster slip at the wall.

SB yields reasonable results in all cases with a single set of model coefficients.

SB is therefore recommended as replacement for the popular J&J model.
