Chipata terrane of Southern Irumide Belt experienced single UHT metamorphism at 1031–1013 Ma.

UHT (900–1000 °C) at ∼5–6 kbar is indicated by peak spinel + quartz assemblage in Grt-Sil-Spl-Crd granulite and up to 7.9 wt% Al2O3 in orthopyroxene in Grt-Opx-Crd granulite.

Reaction textures indicate isobaric cooling at ∼4–5 kbar to temperatures of ∼550 °C after peak UHT metamorphism.
