The Circular Economy paradigm is being more and more explored by researchers and practitioners. Literature shows a lack of research about the assessment phase of CE strategies in the micro level. A four levels framework for the monitoring phase of a CE strategy is proposed. The main environmental index-based methods are classified according to their ability to measure CE. A systematic approach to choose the most fitting method to assess CE is proposed.
