An off-grid wind turbine is optimized for a commercial building by considering the demand profile.

BEM, EnergyPlus, and Genetic algorithm are applied in a coupled scheme for optimization.

Twist, chord, and angular velocity are chosen as the optimization variables.

The case study verifies that maximizing energy output does not always yield the best design.
