Statistical Analyses of Energy Consumption Data in Urban Office Buildings of Changsha, China

The purpose of this study is to analyze the actuality of urban office buildings energy consumption in Changsha, China. 45 urban office buildings were selected and the investigations on these buildings energy consumption in 2007, were carried through. Survey data of the investigated buildings were analyzed by SPSS. The results showed that the growth of building power intensity (BPI) and building energy intensity (BEI) in office buildings of Changsha showed a normal distribution with increased gross floor area (GFA); the mean of the BEI in government office buildings is 72.30 kWh/(m2·a), with about 75% electricity; the mean of the BEI in commercial office buildings is 71.14 kWh/(m2·a), with about 93% electricity. The energy structures of these buildings need further optimization. These general conclusions provide some information for fundamental work such as investigations into the energy consumption data and formulation of the renovation plans.
